Dandee is the doe who started the "little house'' lines. She is a nice milking doe with good manners on the stand. Her orifices are a bit small, so milking her does take longer. Am I being too hard on her? Maybe. But here we milk by hand, and the smaller the orifice the longer it takes to milk. Especially because she gives us a good amount of milk. All in all, I really do like this doe, attitude and all. She'll be 7 this coming April.

Nellie, where do I start? If you've ever watched the series, "Little House on the Prairie, or even read the "Little House'' books, you know what a pain Nellie Oleson (or Nellie Owens in the book) can be. This girl lives up to her name (probably not the best name chosen, though it does match her personality)! She thinks she owns the place and makes certain the other goats know that.
Nellie is a favorite in the milking parlor, her udder is pretty neat, milks out like a champ. However her overall body strength is somewhat lacking. She's too refined for my taste. I know I know, maybe I'm being to harsh. But the more I get into breeding dairy goats, the more I realize what it is I like, and what I don't like. I'd like to see more levelness down her back, more of a balanced looking doe. More strength (muscle included), in her legs, her back. And for her udder.. She's my favorite to put on the stand for one simple reason. I can milk out ALL that liquid gold in less than a minute. The more milkers I have in barn, the more I'm thankful for large orfices, they really do make milking time easier, not to mention faster. The only problem I have with her udder, is her fore udder attachment. I'd like to see better attachments to hold up that udder, not that it's dragging or anything, but overtime those attachments really do make a difference!

A repeat breeding from 2022, Laura reminds me so much of her older sister! From her dairy skin to her personality. She is so very dairy already, and we're hoping she freshens with a mammary system similar to her sister, Nellie. Just like her dam and sister, she thinks she owns the place :)

"Eliza"
Eliza! Ugh! Just kidding 😄... Eliza has attitude. Enough for a whole herd of goats of you ask me. Shes constantly jumping, and more than half of the time it's on top of us.. *sigh* I know who to blame for my back pain.. I mean, 80lbs of goat gone wild, yes it's dangerously heavy. And crazy. And a handful. Anyways....
Ah, Eliza. Once again Spender made all the improvements I wanted to see on her dam, Dandee. She's more solid (believe me, I KNOW ;), more level, has more overall strength, and stands on some correct legs/beautiful hooves. Her escutcheon is very promising already, and her dairyness is pretty amazing. I'm secretly hoping she'll simmer down into a nice young milking doe, once she's bred. Hoping, because I cant imagine- scratch that- I DONT want to know what a 100+ lb goat feels like when she's heading straight for you intending to use you as a trampoline because she's dubbed herself as an Acrobat. My back hurts just thinking about it.. All in all, I'm excited for this young doe, antics excluded, and can't wait till she 'MATURES' some more. Mostly in her overall body structure cause I'm sure it'll be somethin' nice, but I mean if she wants to WALK around like a normal goat instead of JUMPING, who's to stop her? It ain't gonna be me, that's for sure!

"Rose''
Rose, sweet little rose. She's a sweet thing with a dash of spicy. Like dash, as in you flip over a small bottle of cayenne pepper to sprinkle it over your food, only to have the top pop off and the whole spice comes tumbling down on your food. Yep, that about sums it up. Sure she's sweet as pie, but just you wait. Her "top" sometimes comes off and then bam. It's like Eliza 2.0. She's sassy, has her moments, and has some attitude. But I like her. She was one of those "awkward" teenage goats- probably still is. Her legs always seemed too long, and her body width was somewhat lacking. I dubbed her as a bit too thin/too skinny (and all legs) for my liking fairly early on. And boy, what a mistake that was. I'm super glad I gave her time to fill in those legs of hers, because she is turning out rather nicely. Now, while she's not as wide as her littermate sis (Old Paths Reality Alice Wilder), (because littlermates, at least in my neck of the woods, don't come out looking identical to each other,) she's oh so long and tall. She has that perfect amount of dairyness, levelness to her back, and width in her hind legs. Her escutcheon definitely looks promising, can't wait to see her freshen. All in all, if you can get past her, "SURPRISE! I'ma be wild now", moments, I'm sure you're gonna like her too.

"Alice''
Alice, darlin' Alice. This girl is affectionate, in the, "I'll cover you with wet kisses", sort of way. I'm not even kidding! I've never had a goat that'll give you kisses like lovable pup! Personality aside, I have a feeling this girl is going to be one to watch. Her dam is a favorite in the milking parlor, her udder is pretty neat, milks out like a champ. However her dam's overall body strength is somewhat lacking. She's too refined for my taste. I know I know, maybe I'm being to harsh on her, but it's true. I like a solid dairy goat- NOT meaty. Those are two very different things! Anyways as you can see I get sidetracked easily 😂.. Alice's sire, Spender made the improvements I wanted to see, and them some! She's much more level than her dam and she's only 8 months old! I see a crazy amount of width in her body, her rump is looking very nice at this point. Just her overall body has a really nice solid width that has me intrigued for her 1st freshening. And her muzzle/head! I know she gets that from Spender, for he has a good-looking head! Not to mention that dairy skin of hers. She's probably my most dairy-feeling doe kid born this year. The kind of dairyness that you can just tell by looking at her. And when you actually put your hands on her, that's when you reassure yourself, "Yes, that girls dairy alright." Anyways, I really like my lovebug Alice and can't wait to see the improvements Spender made to her mammary system.

"Legacy"
Legacy. What initially brought me to pick her, out of the many beautiful goats in the Maple Wind's herd, is first of all her lines. In her lineage she is line bred on many successful French Alpines. SGCH MARRAN ROSE'S ROCHESTER, GCH MARRAN RAPTURE'S ROSE, and GCH HOACH'S SRS LYRIC to name a few. When I got to see her, I was impressed by her perfect amount of dairy skin. Her rump, her width. Laura had called her a stylish little doe. Yes, those words exactly. She's amazing!
Her dam Maple Wind Legacy Promise, is an FF. Though she's one with a bright future ahead of her. I mean sired by ++*B GCH Roeburn's Legacy and out of GCH (pend.) Maple Wind MRR A Little Faith 5*M, how could she not be?? And Legacy's sire, Pleasant-Grove HotDam MicDrop, can you say MILK/UDDER buck?
Legacy I'm sure, will be a beautiful doe with a bright future ahead of her. Hopefully we'll get to see how Legacy does in both the milking parlor and the show string next year. A huge thank you to the Maple Wind's herd for letting us bring home this sweet gal!

This girl is a stunner. She has that "look" about her. The second she was born, it was easy to say, "Yep that girl isnt going anywhere!", and slide her right into our keeper pen. She's easily a favorite and we have pretty high hopes for this girl! She's very dairy, wide, long and tall, and has a different body type than her "full cousins'' (Old Paths RBS Alice Wilder: Old Paths RBS Rose Wilder) which has us excited to see her mature!
